  • Position Summary: The Occupational Safety Specialist ensures compliance with occupational safety, health protection, and accident prevention in a casting manufacturing environment.
    This role is essential in maintaining a safe, compliant, and health-conscious work environment in a casting and foundry setting, ensuring regulatory adherence and employee well-being.

  • 1.     Advisory & Inspection Duties:
    • Advise management on occupational safety, accident prevention, and compliance with foundry-specific risks.
    • Inspect safety compliance of operational facilities, technical equipment, and new work  procedures.
    2.     Implementation & Monitoring:
    • Enforce occupational health and safety measures, focusing on molten metal handling, heavy machinery, and confined space work.
    • Conduct workplace inspections, report hazards, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Promote and enforce PPE usage for heat, dust, and chemical protection.
    • Investigate workplace accidents and propose preventive measures.
    3.     Employee Training & Awareness:
    • Train employees on safety regulations, accident prevention, and hazardous substance handling.
    • Support safety officer training and specialized casting personnel education.
    4.     Hazardous Substance Management:
    • Manage foundry-specific hazardous substances, ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Assist with approval procedures and coordinate with relevant authorities.
    5.     Compliance & Process Improvement:
    • Develop and maintain occupational health and safety management systems.
    • Participate in emergency planning, fire safety, and risk assessments.
    6.     Reporting & Collaboration:
    • Prepare annual safety reports and maintain compliance documentation.
    • Cooperate with company doctors, works councils, trade inspectors, and insurance  representatives.

  • 1.     Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • Certifications: Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (Sifa), DGUV, TÜV, or VDS Safety Certifications.
    • 3-5 years of experience in occupational safety, preferably in casting or foundry environments.
    2.     Key & Soft Skills:
    • Knowledge of foundry or heavy industry safety regulations and risk assessment would be an advantage.
    • Analytical skills, effective communication, and ability to train employees.
    • Proficiency in safety management software (e.g., Quentic preferred).
    • Must-have: Assertive, helpful, and hands-on approach to production safety.
